REIKI
Where energy remembers its natural flow.
Release. Realign. Return to yourself.
Sometimes the deepest shifts happen in stillness. Reiki creates a space to soften, receive and reconnect with the quiet wisdom within.
REIKI
More than relaxation.
An ancient practice for modern life. Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy practice based on the idea that a subtle life-force energy flows within and around us. The word Reiki is commonly translated from Japanese as “universal life energy.” The practice was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and has since become a widely used complementary wellbeing practice around the world. At its heart, Reiki is about creating a space for stillness, relaxation and reconnection. In our everyday lives, we can spend so much time thinking, doing, caring for others and moving from one responsibility to the next that we rarely give ourselves an opportunity to simply stop and receive.
During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed and comfortably lie down while I work with my hands gently placed on, or held slightly above, different areas of the body. There is no massage, manipulation or physical effort required from you. Your only role is to relax and allow yourself to experience the session in whatever way feels natural.
People experience Reiki differently. You may notice warmth, coolness, tingling, gentle pulsing, heaviness or lightness, or you may become aware of colours, imagery, memories or emotions. Some people feel very little physically but enter an unusually deep state of relaxation, while others simply drift in and out of sleep. There is no correct way to experience Reiki, and every session can feel different.
MY APPROACH TO REIKI
I have been practising Reiki since 2001, and over more than two decades my approach has become increasingly intuitive and personalised.
Rather than treating Reiki as a set sequence of hand positions, I allow each session to unfold around the individual in front of me. As I work, I pay attention to the areas I feel naturally drawn towards and may spend more time where I sense that additional attention is needed. At times, I may also receive intuitive impressions, images, feelings or other information during the session. If something feels relevant, I may share it with you afterwards and allow you to decide whether it holds any meaning for you. For me, Reiki is not about forcing an outcome or trying to make something happen. It is about creating a calm, supportive environment where you can step away from the outside world, become deeply still and reconnect with yourself.
Many people choose Reiki when they are feeling stressed, emotionally drained, overwhelmed, disconnected or simply in need of rest and nurturing. Others come because they are interested in energy work, personal growth or developing a deeper awareness of themselves. People often describe leaving a session feeling lighter, calmer, deeply relaxed, more grounded and more connected to themselves. Sometimes the experience is subtle; other times it can feel surprisingly profound.
Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice rather than a medical treatment. It does not diagnose or treat health conditions and should not replace medical or psychological care. It can, however, offer something that can be difficult to find in everyday life — a quiet space where nothing is expected of you, where you can simply rest, receive and reconnect.
Sometimes the most healing thing we can do is allow ourselves to receive.
1.
CONNECT
We begin with a brief conversation about how you are feeling and anything you would like me to be aware of before we begin.
When energy flows where attention goes,
Healing flows where love goes.
11.
SETTLE
You lie comfortably, fully clothed, as I guide you through a few moments of gentle breathing and relaxation to help you settle.
HOW IT WORKS
111.
RECEIVE
I begin the Reiki session, working intuitively around different areas of the body and allowing the experience to unfold naturally.
1111.
REFLECT
At the end, we allow a little time to gently return, reflect on your experience and discuss anything you noticed or anything I sensed during the session.
Not everything needs to be understood by the mind.
Sometimes stillness is enough to feel, receive and allow our energy to shift
